Such a day of mixed emotions. I will miss my Aubi-Dobbie but how can I not be excited for the learning, and growth she will experience, even knowing that the greatest learning comes out of our deepest struggles.
It was this same time of year 32 years ago that I entered this same MTC to go to Hong Kong. I thought of myself, a very shy quiet insecure 21 year old. I was terrified to enter the MTC, yet driven by the surety of its 'rightness.' My mission brought me a confidence that couldn't have been obtained in many other ways.
Standing next to us taking pictures at the temple was an Elder going to Hong Kong. I thought about how differently my life might have been had I not gone, and was overcome by the fruits of my mission, the first of which was an Elder Dobson with whom I will soon celebrate 30 years of marriage. I looked at my beautiful children, especially my last two Chinese Children. "Would they be part of my life if I had not gone?" Probably not. What a switchpoint my mission was in my life.
And although the fruits of Aubi's mission will probably not be as dramatic as mine, I know her mission experiences will be customized for her learning and growth and preparation for the rest of her life. I feel privileged to get to follow her journey.

We Received the following later that afternoon
I know I just saw you guys and you are now doing the snoopy dance ;) but I just got done with all my initial orientation stuff and they gave me a few minutes to write you guys!
