Aug 30th, 2017: A Visit to Manhatten

August 30th, 2017

Where has the time gone! It feels like just last week I was the cute little greenie hauling her luggage through the Bronx! Now it has been 6 weeks since then and transfer calls are coming on Saturday! I will probably still be with Sister Morales in the Bronx and won't actually have to move but still! I can't believe that I'm half way through training.

I don't have hardly any time to write today either cuz we are in Manhattan for p-day! But the highlights of the week are:

Had my interview with President Smith! I love that man. He truly is called of god and all of the time we get to spend with him ends with us being spiritually uplifted.

The next highlight, our ward had an investigator wedding. The elders stared teaching them 3 weeks ago and they weren't married. They said they wanted to be baptized so they got married on Saturday and baptized on Sunday! So cool, the faith of this couple is so amazing. The best part is the whole ward showed up to support at both events. They said that they didn't want a big wedding because they wanted to wait to have the big party in a year after they are sealed! But it turned out to be just perfect!

We also got a baptism date! The investigator , Luisa, was someone who the other sisters were teaching but now she finally said yes! She is preparing to be baptized on September 16.

That's all I have time for but I love you and love hearing from all of you!

Love, Hermana Dobson

Mom’s Questions:

How far is your church from your apartment? It's one subway stop but normally we just walk it. It's about a 10-15 minute walk so not to far

Do both of the wards you're serving in go to the same church? Yes which is so nice cuz we can hop back and forth between ward meetings on Sundays.

Is it an independent building or in a highrise? Independent, look it up on gold maps it's huge! It's called the Kingsbridge building.

Is your District organized by a geographical area with all the missionaries speaking different languages in that area?
My district is only Spanish but my zone is the geophysical are in Spanish and English so we have a lot of area overlap but it's nice when giving referrals and such.

How has your weather been?  Are you dying in the heat and humidity?
It has been really hot but this past week has really started to cool down. Fall is on its way here.
