Oct 18th, 2017 Noche de Naciones

Kingsbridge zone

Good morning family and friends!  I hope all is well this fine lovely autumn day! This week was transfers and I am..... drum roll please....... still in The Bronx in the Kingsbridge 1st ward. And my companion is.... Hermana Morales. So yep not much changed this transfer which is really surprising since this will be Hermana Morales 5th cycle here in the Bronx And she only has one more transfer after this before she goes home. But I'm really excited to continue learning from her for another cycle.

This week went by so fast I'm not even sure it happened. This week we had a really fun ward activity called  "Noche de Naciones" which means night of nations. Since we have immigrants from all sorts of countries represented in our ward we took a night to celebrate the differences we all have. We had 6 countries represented (Honduras, El Salvador, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Ecuador and Puerto Rico). The members of the ward from each country made food from that country and did a little presentation from their country. It was a ton of fun. And we also had a ton of non-member there because it was a fun activity and easy opportunity for members to invite their non-member friends and family!

A miracle this week: we had been giving one of our investigators A little break because she had backed out of her baptism a week before and wouldn't really set appointments with us. So it's been almost a month with no contact. But then we decided to reach out again and she let us come over. Even though it was technically the first lesson we both decided not to talk about baptism with her. Instead we read from a Conference talk and it was exactly what she needed. She opened up about what were some of the things that had been keeping her from progressing and what she needed from us to help her continue progressing.  We had a member FB call in to share her testimony and it was exactly what the investigator needed. The spirit definitely guided the lesson and allowed us to teach to her needs.
